Welcome to Miners Rest Primary School & Kindergarten. (K-6)
I acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation, who are the traditional custodians of the land, waterways and skies on which our beautiful school and kindergarten sits and the place we live, learn and play every day. I pay my respects to the Elders, past, present and emerging.
Welcome to Miners Rest Primary School and Kindergarten. We are delighted you have taken the time to explore our website and learn more about our vibrant learning community.
At Miners Rest, we are proud to provide a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment where every child and family feels a strong sense of belonging. Our dedicated staff, alongside our engaged families and community, work in partnership to ensure every student experiences success, connection and growth throughout their educational journey.
Located just 10 kilometres north-west of Ballarat, our school has a rich history dating back to 1858. Today, we are a growing, medium-sized school of 345 students, supported by modern, well-equipped facilities that create engaging and inspiring learning environments.
We are especially proud of our on-site kindergarten, which plays an important role in supporting young families and ensuring a smooth and confident transition into school. With strong connections between our kindergarten and primary settings, children develop familiarity, confidence and a sense of continuity from their earliest years.
Our Out of School Hours Care program provides flexible and high-quality care for families, including before and after school programs, as well as engaging holiday programs throughout the year.
At the heart of our school is a commitment to high-quality teaching and learning. Our curriculum is aligned with the Victorian Curriculum and delivered through our consistent Instructional Model, reflecting current best practice. We place a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy as the foundation for lifelong learning, complemented by rich experiences across Humanities, STEM, Physical Education and the Visual and Performing Arts. We also proudly embed Indigenous perspectives and cultural understanding across all year levels.
Students at Miners Rest enjoy a wide range of opportunities beyond the classroom, including camps, excursions, sporting programs, leadership opportunities and community events. Our Buddy Program and Social Squad help foster positive relationships and ensure every child feels connected and supported.
We are proud of our contemporary learning spaces and access to technology, including a 1:1 iPad program for students in Years 3–6, enhancing and enriching learning in meaningful ways.
Strong partnerships with families are central to our success. Our School Council, Parents and Friends Association, and Junior School Council play an important role in shaping our school and strengthening our community.
We are proud of who we are, and the opportunities we provide for every child to thrive. I warmly invite you to connect with us, visit our school, and experience firsthand the welcoming and inclusive culture that makes Miners Rest Primary School such a special place to learn and grow.
If you have any questions or would like to know more, please don’t hesitate to contact us—we would love to hear from you.
